Why The Collective?
Changemaking leadership flourishes with a few essential elements of nourishment, and especially so in this moment of chaos, burnout, uncertainty, and overwhelm. Within this chaos lives great opportunity for collective action.
1) Connection with peer leaders to grow collective power. The connection to learn from one another, build allyship and alliances, and share support in a community of other dedicated and purposeful leaders is an essential part of sustainable and rooted leadership. Building collective power in this way is a critical part of meeting this moment, in particular.
2) Space and facilitation to reflect and build clarity. Sometimes, we just need a moment. A curated moment to reflect, think, and breathe life into our vision of what is possible - for our leadership, our work, and our values. With practiced facilitation, Bina creates space for participants of The Collective to explore, strategize, and clearly articulate what purposeful and sustainable leadership looks like. Integrating breath work, embodiment, and leadership growth practices centered in self-determination, collective impact, liberation, and wholeness.
With carefully curated facilitated and activities, this leadership retreat provides the essential space to bring clarity and amplification to the kind of leadership our communities need - more than ever. The kind of leadership that is rooted and steady, collaborative and clear, strategic and impactful.
3) Nourishment. Not just self-care, but nourishment that is actively contributes to leadership that remains focused and purposeful in the long-term. The calls for action are mighty -- time for replenishment, healing, and community connection remind us of what is possible.
This space is designed for transformative reflection and practices that nourish leadership growth. Participants are asked to be mindful and careful of how they take care of themselves and abstain from practices that may perpetuate disconnection and distraction (doom-scrolling and tech-overload, skipping breath work for emails, intoxicants, avoiding rest...). All participants will be fully supported as we journey together in these practices towards wellness and replenishment.
What is The Collective?
This is a professional development retreat for leaders to bridge the personal with the professional in terms of advancing and sustaining purposeful, focused, impactful leadership. This is a unique offering in that it is a small cohort (10-20 people) that is designed to tend to individual wholeness as part of collective leadership and action.
Who is The Collective for?
The Collective welcomes mid- to senior-level leaders who are committed to driving progress for collective justice, equity, and anti-oppression. This space welcomes leaders of all colors and allyship, from across topic areas and sectors, including executive directors, board members, grant makers, consultants and facilitators to the social justice sectors, and entrepreneurs.
Importantly, this retreat does not provide teaching space on the "101" of DEI or anti-oppression, and the facilitation at The Collective builds on these frameworks. Participants should have a good understanding these concepts and practices.
Unlike some retreats, which focus exclusively on individual growth, The Collective is truly a special experience -- we welcome participants who are willing to be in relationship with other participants over the course of this gathering.
